Based on Peter Mayle's bestseller by the same name, it is the hilarious first year account of the Mayles' adjusting to both the idiosyncracies of the locals and the quaint traditions of this ancient and charming region.

Well done in general, and quite amusing. Having read the book several years ago, I can't comment with any accuracy how close it comes to the book plot, but seems to differ in at least some places. All in all, I think I preferred the book but the movie was definitely worth watching.

Great mini-series. I think it 'starts' with Spring.
