"Eagle Day" was one the earlier Foyle's War episodes. It is very, very good. Well written, equally well acted. It is real war against the Germans; they are bombing the streets and neighbors of London. You always know where the air raid shelter is. Foyle and his team have to contend with not just criminals but often with other official departments that often outrank the police. Crime never takes a day of rest.

We have become totally hooked on this terrific BBC series that takes place on the Home Front during the years of World War II. Michael Kitchen is marvelous as a conscientious police detective who would rather be fighting in the war, instead of solving crimes in the English seaport town of Hastings. His compatriots are also wonderfully cast. There are murders, most having some connection to the war, but the series is notable for how it depicts how life was in England from 1940 to the end of the war--good and bad. This episode is the last of the first season, and there were six more seasons. We plan to watch all the episodes chronoligaclly. This is an addictive, highly intelligent series that is much more than about detecting crime.
