I really liked this true story of explorer Percy Fawcett. The character of Indiana Jones was inspired by this incredible real life adventurer. Fawcett was a man obsessed with finding a lost city and civilization in South America that few…

Good title; good movie! Lots of action and emotions in this movie which takes place during the First War era and beyond. Seasoned actors and a complementary plot add to the accoutrements!

not the most entertaining/riveting/engaging movie, but it presents a world and time I'd enjoy spending more time in. There are a number of beautiful scenes in this movie, and I enjoyed the sensation of being in the room in the Royal…

Based on a real explorer, the attempt is made to help portray the courage and motivations of one of the world's great explorers of the 20th century. You have to be kinda fearless as there are so many ways to get knocked off - disease,…

Overlong, anachronistic, and worst of all, preachy. IMO, Fawcett's monomania isn't worth a biopic. His wife, however, should have received an OBE for single-handedly raising their children while he was off looking for more pottery.

If you like to see real time periods in the past, this is excellent. Well done on explorer 1905 to 1925, his life, attitudes, and society.

I recommend the book this is based on, by David Grann.

I wanted to like this movie so much. It's a great story and I love the cast. However, the film suffers from poor editing. The film has a runtime of 141 minutes, and you feel every minute of the film. It is just SO long and dull.

One can see why a filmmaker would be taken by this tale and want to bring it to the screen. Perhaps David Lean could have done it; but James Gray, the director and writer of this attempt, definitely could not. The players are generally…

This type of movie deserves a wide audience for the simple fact that it is based on real events. So many scenes send your senses reeling for a multitude of reasons based on emotion. For me, one big juxtaposition is calling the old world…

Save your time. I managed to watch this "sleeper" of a film from beginning to end, in some silly hope that I would be gifted with something remarkable. I won't spoil anything suffice to say that the toast remained burnt and flavourless…

Based on a true story? While exploring the uncharted territory of Brazil early in the 20th century 2 explorers encounter an opera in progress in the jungle. That's when I ejected the DVD. There may have been something interesting going…

Written and directed by James Gray in 2016 based on the 2009 book of the same name by David Grann, this American docudrama depicts the real events surrounding the British explorer Percy Fawcett, who explored Bolivia-Amazonia and made…

These are the most Americanized Britons one is ever likely to encounter, thanks to a US novelist aided and abetted by a US writer/director.

I rather liked this 140 minute film, of this man's quest to find proof of an advanced civilization, while his faithful wife endured many years of having to raise their children alone. This film condensed his travels and adventures between…

Dark, dismal, slow moving with very brief periods of action. I wouldn't want to watch this very long movie a second time.

The Lost City of Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz... But the worst part is the typical Follywood PC formula, of putting 21st Century personalities & attitudes (especially the snarky "individual" female character) into early 20th Century characters. …

Found this movie interesting, shows how the explorers from the early 1900's went through the trials of exploring the jungles and uncharted territories. If you think this is a "Indiana Jones" movie don't bother as this movie is more true to…

Yay! Here it is - a movie specifically designed for male children (say 10 years old) that grew up in the 50's to dreck like "King Solomon's Mines". Jimmy Gray, being one of the greatest hacks in world cinema loads this thing up with a new…
