As much as I enjoyed reading "Afterworlds", I do wish that the two separate stories would have been separate. Even though it was cool to read about Darcy writing a part of the story and then Lizzie living it, I would have preferred to have…

Love the duel narrative and how it's two books in one, but they really connect to one another. Darcy is in the real world writing the book about Lizzie (fantastic P&P reference) who lives in a make believe fantasy world that's semi-based…

Darcy's book is getting published, so she moves to New York to edit her story where she meets Imogen, another YA author. Lizzie has a near death encounter that lets her see ghosts and move between life and the afterworld. She meets a boy…

I connected with the Darcy story much more than the intertwining novel of Lizzie. Definitely an inspirational book if people are interested in writing a novel. Good read!

So, I've read this book twice. First when it first came out and then again this week. It definitely got me thinking about my own novel, which may or may not need a new ending. It's two books in one, which is great. The first time around I…

I kept renewing this book so I could savor it. Really. There are two stories in one here, and I don't know if my MS brain was acting up, but I needed to take it slowly. Darcy and Lizzie's stories are both interesting, but Lizzie's more…

A riveting read that weaves two stories together perfectly.

I stayed up too late finishing this, and I even had an opening shift the next morning, so you can tell how much I liked it! Like many other reviewers, I preferred the "real" story; the Lizzie story was sketchier, less "real" feeling. If I…

I liked the alternating stories of author and author's creation. I have to say, though, I found the "real-world" teen author story more interesting than the spirit-guide teen love story. A fun and quick read.

This was a fun read - basically you get to read two books at the same time - one thread about a soon-to-be published teen author, and the other thread, the book she is writing! The majority of the "action" takes place in the first chapter…

Afterworlds was a adventure in both worlds. Alternating between the exciting life of the author of Afterwords. A book to be published. And the thrilling life of Lizzie a survivor of a terrorist attack who discovers the ability to walk…

Smart dual-story that keeps you turning the pages. Fantastic glimpse into the writing/publishing world in the most entertaining fashion. Who knew death could be romanticized?

Loved this book, definitely one of my faves of 2014. Story within a story, and both stories work! Teen writer Darcy gets a YA book deal and moves to NYC to work on her novel (and the untitled sequel). Simultaneously you get to read the…

Somewhat of a letdown compared to Westerfeld's previous series, Uglies. It overall was a good read, but a bit long for what content it had. In my opinion, both alternating stories didn't really progress anywhere by the end of the book, and…

"Afterworlds contains two parallel stories: half of the chapters focus on Lizzie, who survives a terrorist attack only to discover that she's become a psychopomp who can see departed souls. The other chapters focus on Darcy, the…

From both friends and bloggers, I’ve heard nothing but good things about Scott Westerfled and his novels. I’ve never read any of his books, so I was thrilled when I got a copy of his newest book Afterworlds to try the author out. However,…
