Not my favorite of her books, at all. When the story didn't hook me, I kept going in hopes that it would get better...it never really did. Characters were hard to relate to and whatever build-up existed for their stories certainly fell…

I really enjoyed this book - well-written and interesting.

Don't give up on Curtis Sittenfeld. 'Sisters' wasn't her best book but it kept me reading. The plot gradually unfolds and engages you, but it takes a long time to get started. I really enjoyed her break-out novel Prep, and her short…

I'm assuming that it is either really easy to make the NYT best seller list or that only her book was written and the field considerably narrowed. The writing, the characters and the plot (which was a real let down) were mediocre at best.…

I loved this book. What I enjoyed the most (other than the fluent, well written story), was that the plot kept surprising me. Curtis Sittenfeld is becoming, from reading one of her books to the next, my favorite author.

I really enjoyed this book and the complicated relationship between these twin sisters. The idea that one has more psychic abilities than the other was an interesting twist. Having a sister, I can relate the protagonist, who feels at times…

I don't have to like a protagonist to enjoy a book, though maybe that would have helped.

Twin sisters who at a young age learn that they have a ‘sense’ of the future. As adults Kate has suppressed any hint of the ability but her sister Violet has become a psychic. When Vi makes a public declaration about an upcoming disaster,…

This was my 1st read of Curtis Sittenfeld. I enjoyed her writing style. It just seemed so real & honest, no pretence. She revealed a dry humour throughout. Other people who know this author are disappointed with this particular book, no…

Good but not great. To me an accurate picture of family life of young families today.

It sounded real interesting but was way too wordy and just way to detail about life. Sometimes those can be ok but not this one. I was sad that the end was not the way it should be but that can happen in real life.

I found the characters all extremely annoying. Even the 2 year old Rosie who can only refer to herself in the third person. Kate is a stuck up prude, Vi is a bohemian slob. Supporting characters are equally one dimensional. Ugh.

Different from what I was expecting. The plot was good and the book kept me hooked (I read it in one weekend) but the character of Kate really annoyed me. She seemed snobbish and there were a lot of classist things in the book that annoyed…

Following her extraordinary debut, "Prep" (2005) and two subsequent best sellers comes Curtis Sittenfeld's newest novel, "Sisterland," a rich but somewhat tedious and incredulous portrait of intricate family relationships. As young…

Great read! Identical twins grow up with the power of ESP; one chooses to develop her psychic abilities, the other does not.

I was really looking forward to reading this book and when I finally did, I was disappointed in the ending.

Light with lots of filler, a good reflection of what we are fed on TV

If it weren't for the forced, throw-away ridiculous ending , I loved this book. I'm so mad at the author for compromising her best characters for the stupid ending!

Well written but extremely unlikeable characters. In fact... both twins are just downright annoying.

I always love Curtis Sittenfeld novels. She writes about really different subjects, well researched and with such wit and empathy. I was surprised after reading Prep, a fairly typical coming of age tale with a touch of Salinger that the…

Sittenfeld writes well about relationships – in this novel, twin sisters.

I loved this book until about 3/4 of the way through, when it took a major plot turn. It was fabulous until then - funny, deft dialogue, engaging plot turns and then....it seemed to fall apart. However, it did spark my interest in the…
