Probably the best written biography I ever read... and I read a lot. She is an excellent writer. The subject extraordinary. I was sad to read its last line!

A lovely biography, as a massive Leonard Cohen fan I found the book delightful and revealing. After reading it I'm an even bigger fan. The book reads easily, is insightful and entertaining. A definite 5 star work.

ring the bells that still can ring, forget your perfect offering, there is a crack in everything, that's how the light gets in. Simmons looks through the cracks at how Cohen lets the light into his lyrics and music.

Sylvie Simmons is an excellent biographer. She has the fan's knowledge and ardour for her subject - but also a cool journalistic instinct. The combination of the two makes for a compelling read on one of the great geniuses of our time.
