Really enjoyed this version. It went in chronological order, great acting and even the most emotional of all the other versions. See this version or the 1945 version.

One of my absolute favorite movies! Fun to watch during the holiday season as romance and relationships unfold amongst the March family and their neighbors and friends.
The condition of the DVD is pretty bad, but, what I could watch of the movie, I liked.

More languid and less tension than the book. Shot hereabouts: you can spot some locations if you look carefully. (Berlin work would not be done in a hoop.)

The cast does a pretty good job of restraint considering the fluffy, melodramatic sentimentality of the plot. Gabriel Byrne's miscasting as Friedrich Bhaer spoils the ending.
